Following the emergence of coronavirus cases in various departments, at least five departments of the Quaid-e-Azam (QAU) have been sealed.
A notification issued by the District Magistrate Office carried directives to seal the Department of Chemistry, BBA, and BCH of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in ‘larger public interest’ until further orders.
Moreover, the police cordoned off the sealed departments to prevent the spread of the virus.
This morning, a letter was dispatched to the university administration by the District Health Officer (DHO) to close concerned departments immediately.
DHO emphasized in the letter that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) should be enforced strictly on university premises to avoid further spread of this virus.
He advised that the university authorities must ensure consistency to follow SOPs in the opened departments of QAU.
He further ordered those individuals to self-quarantine instantly who came in contact with the infected person.
It is important to mention that 49 educational institutions have been sealed by the authorities so far after the emergence of virus cases.
Around 26,492 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country, out of which 707 new novel coronavirus cases came out as positive, taking the total number of infection to 328,602.
According to the latest update shared by the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC), three COVID patients died during the hospital treatment.
Out of 4,290,545 corona tests conducted, an aggregate of 328,602 cases was recorded since the Covid outbreak. Sindh recorded 143,836, Punjab 102,875, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39,043, Balochistan 15,810, Islamabad 19,002, Azad Jammu Kashmir 3,846, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,180.
On Friday, Pakistan recorded 847 new cases, which was the highest single-day surge since July.
