In a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has made face masks mandatory in public places, such as bazaars, shopping malls, and restaurants.
Besides, wearing face masks is also compulsory in all offices, both government and the private sectors.
During Wednesday’s briefing, the NCOC was informed that the positivity ratio in 11 cities is more than 80 percent.
The committee was informed that 4,374 places in 11 cities, including Quetta, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Mirpur, Karachi, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad are currently under micro-lockdowns.
Earlier this month, the prevalence ratio in these cities had risen by 40 percent in just four days.

The center is also alarmed at the increasing number of hospital admissions and deaths from the deadly virus.
On Tuesday, Special Assistant to the PM on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, asserted that the second wave of coronavirus is underway in the country. He called for restrictive measures to curb the spread.
As per the NCOC’s data, the country reported 850 new coronavirus infections and 14 new virus-related deaths during the last 24 hours.
